How to Check Active MTN Subscriptions: 4 Places to Look
How to Check Active MTN Subscriptions: 4 Places to Look
The common code, the data check and what each kind of subscription charges.
When airtime drops and you cannot see why, the answer is usually something that is switched on. MTN does not show every active item in one place, so you have to look in four. Start with the one that catches most people.
The 4 places to look
What each kind of subscription means
| Type | Example | Where it renews from |
|---|---|---|
| Data plan with auto-renew | A weekly or monthly bundle | Your airtime, when the plan expires |
| Voice or combo bundle | XtraValue bundle | Your airtime, when minutes or data run out |
| Value-added service | Premium SMS, content or tunes | Your airtime, at the interval the service sets |
| Pay-as-you-go browsing | After a bundle ends, if you opted in | Your airtime, per MB |
Will my data plan renew?
MTN asks you to choose Auto-renew or One-off when you buy a bundle. One-off never renews. If a purchase by SMS times out before you choose, it is treated as One-off. Send R plus the plan code to 312 to switch renewal on, and NO plus the plan code to switch it off.
Reading what you find
Each entry should show a service name, a price and how often it charges. Compare that with your balance history. Anything you do not recognise is worth cancelling, because you can always join again later if you miss it. Write down the names before you cancel so you can mention them if you need to complain.
An easy weekly audit
- Dial *305# and read every item that appears.
- Dial *323*4# and check each plan’s expiry date.
- Look at the last five SMS messages from MTN.
- Text STATUS to 2442 to see your Do-Not-Disturb setting.
Common questions
Does *305# cost anything?
Guides report that checking is free. If you see a charge, tell MTN on 300.
Why does *305# show nothing?
You may have no value-added services. Your charges may come from a data plan or pay-as-you-go instead.
Can I see everything in the myMTN app?
The app shows balances and plans. Guides also describe a subscriptions area, but menus change, so confirm in your own app.
