It is 11pm, your data is finished, and you still need to send one file. You do not need to visit a shop or call anyone. MTN lets you buy a bundle from the same phone, and the method you pick decides how fast it is.
The 4 ways to subscribe
This is MTN’s main data menu. MTN also lists TopIt/VTU, the Zigi chatbot and Facebook Mobile Center as other places to buy.
The pop-up that matters: Auto-renew, One-off or Buy for a Friend
When you activate a plan, MTN asks you to choose how it should behave:

SMS keywords: a few reported shortcuts
Each plan has a keyword you text to 312. MTN’s own example shows that R + code renews a plan, for instance R104 for the 110MB daily bundle. Some guides report these keywords for popular plans:

Keywords come from third-party lists and can change, so confirm in the menu if a plan does not match.
If the purchase fails
- Check you have enough airtime for the plan price.
- Check the keyword or menu number again.
- Try the other method, for example the menu if SMS did not respond.
- If you only need to keep browsing for a while, *312*200# switches on pay-as-you-go from your airtime at ₦3.07/MB.
