Grace periods, categories and the mistakes that cost people their leftover data.
That one condition is where most people lose their leftover data. The rules are short once you see them laid out, so here they are.

Buy again to keep it. Leftover main data rolls over only if you buy another plan of the same category within the grace period.

The grace period depends on your plan. Daily plans get 1 day, 2 to 14-day plans get 3 days, and 30-day and longer plans get 7 days.

Categories matter. Daily rolls into daily. Plans under 30 days (excluding daily) roll into each other. Plans of 30 days and above roll into each other.

The new plan sets the validity. The leftover data takes on the validity of the plan you buy.

Bonuses do not roll over. Bonus data and YouTube Night/Day data are lost even if the plan renews.

Easy to miss: During the grace period you cannot use the leftover data. It is only released when you renew or buy a matching plan.
How to avoid losing data
- Check your balance and expiry with *323*4# a few days ahead.
- Buy the same type of plan before the grace period ends.
- Use bonus and YouTube data first, because they cannot roll over.
- Choose Auto-renew if you want the same plan to buy itself, and keep enough airtime.
Does auto-renew roll over my data?
It should for main data, since a renewal is a new purchase from the same category. Bonus data still does not roll over.
What if I wait past the grace period?
The unused data is cleared.
Does it work on yearly plans?
Yes. 365-day plans sit in the 30-day-and-above group.
