MTN Broadband Device Prices: Why You May See Different Numbers

MTN’s broadband page lists five devices and one standout offer. Before you pick, know what each is built for and where the prices have changed.

4G Router (Standard) 3G / 4G ₦9,000 Entry router

MTN’s online shop has shown other prices for some of the same devices, for example ₦20,000 for the standard 4G router and ₦80,000 for the 5G router. The prices differ by page and date, so check the page you buy from.

How installation works

1. Check coverage at your address. A 5G device needs 5G coverage, and the others need 3G or 4G.

2. Choose the device and plan, and pay through the shop or at a store.

3. For FlyX, MTN says installation is free. For other routers, you place and power the device yourself.

4. Insert the SIM, connect your devices, and test the speed in several rooms.

Placing the device well

  • Put it high and central, near a window facing the tower.
  • Keep it away from metal and thick walls.
  • Avoid corners and cupboards.

Home or office?

A home with a few streamers can get by on a 4G router and a capped plan. An office with many people on video calls needs more speed and a bigger plan, which is where 5G or an unlimited plan can make sense. Test coverage at the exact desk or room first.

5 questions before you buy 5G broadband

  • Is there 5G at my address? Check first.
  • How many devices will connect?
  • Do I need unlimited, or will a capped plan do?
  • Can I afford the monthly plan for a year?
  • What does the fair-usage policy say?
FibreX: MTN’s broadband page also lists FibreX, a fixed fibre service. Ask MTN if it reaches your street.

Faulty device

MTN runs a support portal for faulty broadband devices, and its router page mentions a one-year warranty on the 4G router. Return a faulty device to the place of purchase.

Is FlyX really unlimited?

MTN’s page says truly unlimited data. Read the plan terms for any fair-usage rules.

Do routers work for calls?

They are built for data. Use your phone SIM for calls.

Can I move the router?

Move it within coverage, but expect speed to change.
