MTN Rwanda Internet Settings and APN: Manual Setup for Android and iPhone
The access point to enter, step-by-step setup and a checklist for when the internet still will not load.
Most phones get their internet settings on their own the moment you insert an MTN Rwanda SIM. When one does not, a manual APN fixes it in under two minutes.
The settings to enter
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Name | MTN |
| APN | internet.mtn |
| Username | Leave blank |
| Password | Leave blank |
The APN internet.mtn has long been the internet access point for MTN Rwanda. If your phone still does not connect after you save it, call 100 and ask for the current settings for your phone.

If you still cannot browse
- Check that you have an active data bundle with *345*5#.
- Switch airplane mode on and off.
- Remove duplicate APN entries and keep only the MTN one.
- Make sure you are on 4G or 3G, and not 2G.
- Restart the phone and test again.
Why the APN matters
The APN is the address your phone uses to reach MTN Rwanda’s internet gateway. A missing or mistyped entry gives you full signal bars and no pages, which is the most common reason people think their bundle is broken. Fixing the APN is the first step before you spend money on another bundle.
A word on data bundles
A correct APN only helps if you have data. Dial *345# to buy a bundle, and *131# to confirm your airtime first. If you buy a social media bundle, remember it covers only WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram.
Why does my phone show signal but no internet?
The APN may be missing, or your bundle may have ended.
Do I need a different APN for 4G?
Start with the same APN. If it fails, ask customer care on 100.
Can I get the settings by SMS?
Ask customer care on 100 to send the settings for your phone.
