Complete New Guide on UBA Sort Code 033
This guide takes you from the number 033 to a payment you have checked twice. Follow the parts in order.
Part 1: what 033 is
033 is United Bank for Africa’s bank code. It tells the payment system which bank should receive the money. When you choose UBA from a list, the system uses it for you.
Part 2: the 9-digit branch sort code
UBA branch sort codes are 9 digits and begin with 033. The remaining digits point to a branch. Your own code is on your cheque book and statement, or you can ask your branch.
Part 3: what it is not
◆ Not your account number. That has 10 digits.
◆ Not the USSD code. *919# opens a phone menu.
◆ Not the SWIFT code. UNAFNGLA is for international payments.
◆ Not your PIN, OTP or BVN.
Part 4: using it in a form
Look for a bank dropdown
Choose UBA by name.
If it asks for a branch code
Enter your 9-digit sort code.
Enter the 10-digit account number
Copy it from your app or statement.
Wait for the name
Continue only when the name matches.
Part 5: when something fails
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| Code rejected | Check the length and choose UBA by name |
| Name does not match | Stop and confirm the account number with the owner |
| Branch code unknown | Check your cheque book, statement or ask your branch |
| Payment not received | Wait, check your history and keep the reference |
Part 6: safety
Bank codes are public. Your PIN, OTP, card details and BVN are not. Use only the UBA app or official channels for help, and ignore numbers shared on social media.
Six parts, three habits: pick UBA by name, check the name, protect your PIN.
