List of OPay USSD codes, and how to check your balance
Start with the one that matters most. To check your OPay balance without data, dial *955*0#, or dial *955# and choose the balance option.
Check your balance in 4 steps
1. Dial *955# from the phone number linked to your OPay account.
2. Choose the balance option, or use the shortcut *955*0# if your menu accepts it.
3. Enter your PIN if the screen asks for it.
4. Read the balance, and wait for any SMS that follows.
OPay USSD codes reported by guides
| Task | Code reported | How sure are we |
|---|---|---|
| Main menu | *955# | All guides agree |
| Balance | *955*0# | One guide gives the code, others say use the menu |
| Send to a bank account | *955*2*Amount*Account Number# | Two guides agree |
| Send to an OPay account | *955*1*…# | Guides differ on the format |
| Airtime | *955*3*Amount# or *955*2*Amount# | Guides differ |
| Buy data | *955*4*Phone Number# | One guide only |
| Fund a betting wallet | Menu option | Two guides list it, with different numbers |
What we left out. Two guides give different codes for fetching an OTP, so we do not print either. Never share an OTP with anyone, and ignore any code that asks you to forward one. The general BVN lookup code *565*0# works across banks and is not OPay specific.
2 other ways to see your balance
The OPay app
Open it while you have data and your balance is on the home screen.
OPay support
Use the official in-app help if a transaction looks wrong or missing.
Why a balance check can fail
▸ You dialed from a number that is not linked to the account.
▸ You are out of airtime, so the session cannot start.
▸ Your PIN has been entered wrongly and USSD is locked.
▸ The network is busy. Try again at a quieter hour.
Make *955*0# the first thing you dial after a transfer. It takes seconds, and it confirms the money moved.
