MTN Bonus Airtime Offers and Eligibility: 7 Bonuses and Who Gets Them
Bonus airtime on MTN is not one offer. It is a handful of separate ones, each with its own rules about who qualifies, how long the bonus lasts and what it can pay for. Here is the map as MTN currently documents it.

How to find out if you qualify
1. Recharge normally with *311*PIN#. If you are eligible for Welcome Back, MTN sends an SMS telling you to use *161*PIN# next time.
2. Check the plan page for your tariff in the myMTN app.
3. Dial 300 and ask MTN directly, because eligibility depends on MTN’s own records.
Where your bonus shows up
Dial *310# to see your bonus balance, and *323*4# for bonus data. Bonus balances are separate from your main airtime, so they can look missing if you only check one.
Rules that apply to nearly all bonuses
- Bonus data does not roll over. Even if the plan renews, the bonus is cleared.
- Bonus airtime is often restricted. Welcome Back voice bonus works for national calls only, not roaming, VAS subscriptions or airtime sharing.
- Expiry is short. Welcome Back bonus lasts 14 days for recharges of ₦100 and below, and 30 days above that.
- Bonus data is used first in some offers, so your bought data can look untouched for a while.
Is there a bonus on every recharge?
A 2025 report said MTN did not give airtime or data bonuses on recharge under its standard tariff plans. I found no current MTN page that lists one. The offers above are targeted, so you need to qualify.
Why did I not get a bonus?
You may not qualify, you may have recharged outside the allowed range, or you used the wrong recharge code.
Not for Welcome Back voice bonus. MTN says it cannot be used with Share.

It depends on the offer. Check the SMS you received.
