MTN TravelPass is the plan most travellers need. It gives discounted calls, SMS and data across more than 50 countries. Here are all seven plans and the rules that matter.

The pass is roughly three to four times cheaper than the plain roaming rate on data.
Rules to know
Where it works
MTN lists 51 destinations, from the UK, USA, Canada and UAE to Ghana, South Africa, India, China, Kenya, Thailand and more, on named partner networks. One pass works across eligible destinations during its validity. Calls to countries outside the list use standard rates.
USA, Australia and VoLTE
In some places, such as the USA and Australia, voice calls need VoLTE (voice over LTE) switched on. Check that your phone supports it before you travel. In some listed destinations, incoming minutes are capped at 20% of your allowance.
Can I buy it after I land?
Yes. MTN says you can subscribe in Nigeria or in any eligible destination.
Does it work on every network in the country?
It works on the partner networks MTN lists for each destination.
Is voice or SMS better value?
The plans give minutes or SMS, not both at once. Choose by how you will use it.
