MTN vs 9mobile Night Data: ₦75 for 500MB or ₦200 for 1GB?
MTN Data Plans Compared With 9mobile (T2 Mobile): What Is Reported
The rebrand, reported prices against MTN’s own, and a 4-step way to compare any two plans.
9mobile has changed. Recent reports say it has been rebranded as T2 Mobile, so older guides may use the old name. This article compares what is reported with MTN’s own prices. The reported figures vary between guides, so use them as a guide only.
The name change
Two 2026 data-plan guides refer to T2 Mobile as the rebranded 9mobile. Its menus can still use the *229# and *200# codes that older guides list. Confirm the name and codes on your SIM’s welcome message or at a store.
What is reported
| Plan | Reported 9mobile or T2 | MTN (official) |
|---|---|---|
| Daily | 650MB for ₦200, 24 hours | 230MB for ₦200, 1 day |
| Night | 1GB for ₦200, 12am to 5am | Pulse Nightlife: 500MB for ₦75, 11pm to 6am |
| Monthly 2GB | ₦1,200 | 2GB + 2 mins for ₦1,500 |
| Weekly | 150MB for ₦200 (reported) | 1.5GB for ₦1,000 |
The weekly 9mobile line looks unusually small, and other guides give different sizes for the monthly plan, such as 1.5GB or 2.3GB for ₦1,200. That is why these figures need checking.
Night data per GB
MTN’s night plan works out at ₦150 per GB and the reported 9mobile one at ₦200. MTN’s is smaller per bundle, so you buy up to four for 2GB.
How to compare any two plans in 4 steps
A 2GB example
MTN’s 2GB monthly plan costs ₦1,500, or ₦750 per GB. The reported 9mobile 2GB plan at ₦1,200 would be ₦600 per GB, saving about ₦300 for the same data. If a guide’s size is wrong, the saving changes, so check the plan on the network’s own menu.
Coverage and service
A cheaper plan only helps if the network is strong where you are. Test a spare SIM before you commit, and ask friends nearby what they get.
If you decide to move to MTN
- Visit an MTN store with ID and your SIM.
- Ask to port in, and send PORT to 3232 when told.
- Use up your old airtime and data first, since they do not move.
- Check your plan afterwards with *123*1*2#.
Is 9mobile still around?
Reports say it continues as T2 Mobile.
Are the old *229# codes valid?
Some guides still show them. Test with caution.
Can I port my 9mobile number to MTN?
Yes, if it is active, registered and the 90-day rule is met.
