6 checks if incoming calls do not ring
- Do not Disturb or Silent mode is off.
- Call forwarding is not switched on by mistake.
- Blocked numbers list does not include the caller.
- The phone is not on airplane mode.
- Battery saver is not limiting the phone app.
- You have signal, and the SIM is the active one for voice.
Calls connect but there is no sound
- Check the volume and the speaker or earpiece.
- Remove a case that covers the microphone.
- Disconnect Bluetooth devices that may be taking the audio.
- Test with another app call to see if the phone’s audio works.
Plan limits
Some plans charge per second from your balance. If you have almost no airtime, the call may not start. On a bundle plan, calls stop when the minutes finish and then use your main balance.
Tip: If calls fail only at certain times or places, note them. That points to local congestion, which you can report to MTN.

Dial 300 from another phone, or use MTN’s WhatsApp, if calls fail on every number after the checks above. Give the times and places it happens.
Why does data work but calls fail?
They use different parts of the network, and a VoLTE or call barring setting can block only voice.
